Andrew McLean We learned recently of the recent sudden and sad passing of Andrew McLean. For many years he and his wife Christine were mainstays of the Liberal Democrats in Haywards Heath. He served for three years as Constituency Chair, and Christine was for fourteen years a Councillor representing Ashenground Ward. They both worked tirelessly for the cause at every election, both local and national; Andrew was always fully supportive of Christine in her political career. They were a great team working tirelessly for the party in Mid-Sussex and Haywards Heath with great commitment and an amazing energy. They were known for always encouraging and supporting our Councillors, giving them confidence to seek election and to win their seats. Andrew always welcomed party supporters with a big smile whenever they turned up on the doorstep to collect their newsletters for delivery. Andrew was an engineer by profession. His marriage to Christine was so obviously a loving and perfect match. Andrew is best remembered for his sense of humour and love of Grand Prix Motor Racing; as ardent fans they both went to many races around the World. In 2013 they left Haywards Heath after 34 years where they had made many friends and retired to Norfolk to be closer to their son David and daughter Julia. Our thoughts now are with Christine and all her family for their sad loss. Roger Cartwright and the Mid-Sussex Libdems 24Jan18
